Pool Sauna Steam ROOM Jacuzzi All were superb. My Wife enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in the Bar + lounges.
very welcoming staff. owner comes to chat with clients. meals nice and well served in dining room with great view. Downside, no wifi except in lobby. very weak signal.Worst complaint is about accomodation.Showers ancient and full of limescale ..3 blown or missing lightbulbs, fixed after 2 requests.very limited if non existent emergency lighting in corridors.no ramps for people with light handicap or aged.no fire extinguishers visible during power breakdown.no way a 4 star rating.Am an Irish citizen and only mean to be helpful with this review, especially conerning fire safety..Wouldn't stay there again unless refubished and modernized.was probably lovely in its heyday, but as the Irish would say it,s a dive ...
I liked the surrounding of the hotel. I enjoyed the walk around the coast and enjoyed the scenery. I found the staff friendly and the girls on Reception were very helpful.
I personally did not find it value for money as the food helpings were quite small. The drink was expensive and as costly as any pub in Dublin. I thought 70c for a dash for a child's drink was over the top. At no time was it evident of the vat reduction. The family room that we were given was very small.
The location of the hotel was excellent. Lovely view of the beach. Very nice to see the owner of the hotel Brian McEniffe every night chatting to his customers.Breakfast was lovely and full and plenty of everything. Had 1 evening meal there and that was also excellent.
There was nothing we didnt like about the Great Northern Hotel but there was two things I would have questioned but cannot use this box for that.
Easy access car park. Comfortable room. Good service. Restaurant provided good breakfast and evening menu was satisfactory.
Bistro (bar) restaurant was noisy due to people visiting nearby music festival and their language was appalling. Menu was very limited.
The location is amazing and if you are looking for an ok hotel with exceptional views and access to the beach and golf course right outside your door this is the place for you. The bar and patio area are also nice.
The inside of the hotel is quite dated especially the bedrooms and overall it could do with refurbishment. The check in time of 1600 is very late.
A very comfortable relaxing atmosphere combined with a staff that was very helpful made this stay for me very enjoyable.
Staff were very helpful.
Room and pool are not at all as shown on wesite.pool is tiny only suitable for kids.food quality was cheap but ok.breakfast was akin to a hosted.what youom was dull and very dated.musty smell. tv was not working and we were told by someone who came to fix it that the channels.listed in the bedRoom are not available at all.breakfast was akin to a hostel.we were sent to an overflow break fast room and there was no fruit, pastries or juices available and only two choice s of cereal.
The fact that we got upgraded to a suite, it made our stay so much better :) Going again will book the suite.
Nothing, was a great break
Staff was friendly and the food was good. The room was clean, but well worn. It was a 1 to 2 stars with a 4 star billing.
This might have been a very nice hotel at one time, but it is way past it's prime. Furniture ad decor are very dated. Restaurant played only Frank Sinatra music which probably dates the hay day of the hotel.
Situated well and nice views
Tv had only a few stations. No rte which was dissapointing. Curtains were tore. Bedspread was tore, towels were raveled. There developed a leak in the roof. Paint on shower roof was crumbling. Drink in the bar was very expensive
The food was good and I like the fact it has leisure facilities
The room was tiny some paintwork poor and the swimming pool was freezing and the hair dryers didn't work
Excellent run around cliff, reasonable golf course. Breakfast was excellent with good porridge
Evening meal was limited in choice, last sitting was at 19.30, Staff appeared to be rushing to move you along and out before 20.00hrs. Evening meal was ok but not worth returning for.
Most of the staff were very friendly and no one bothered with us even though we were tipsy and had forgot our room key so that was a bonus,
The young girl on reception who was more worried about her hair than anything else she was very ignorant
bed covers old and worn Reception staff lacking Cead Mile Failte
